May 2, 2011

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - The 8th Annual National Comfort Institute (NCI) Summit was held March 13-18, in Scottsdale, Ariz. This year’s theme was “Shift into Overdrive.”

NCI president Rob Falke and training leaders David Richardson, Drew Cameron, and John Garofalo kicked off the opening session with their special keynote presentations. Attendees watched as they presented new developments in NCI Training including HomeMaxx™, NCI’s home performance testing protocol.

Topics of the breakout sessions ran the gamut from growing your home performance business to CommonCents™ energy accountability software to performance-based marketing strategies.

Vendors provided an opportunity for attendees to take a look at new products and existing services available through NCI’s ContractorsOne™ member rewards program.

A highlight for attendees and faculty alike was the “Integrating Building & HVAC Performance in Your Company” panel discussion. Top NCI performance-based contractors were on the panel to give the audience a chance to debate the pros and cons of implementing home performance into their business.

The highlight of the awards banquet was the presentation of the award named in honor of the late David Debien for his pioneering work in HVAC system design and installation. This year’s David Debien Technical Excellence Award was presented to Nathan Copeland of Copeland & Son in Nashville, Tenn.

CEO Dominick Guarino presented Chris Link of Link Mechanical in New Britain, Conn., with the 2011 NCI Chairman’s Award. Chris Link was honored with this award due to his staunch support of NCI’s mission, companywide implementation of performance-based contracting, and contribution to industry knowledge.
