GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Metal Industries Inc. donated $13,400 to
the University of Florida’s Rinker School of Building Construction for the
purchase of a refrigeration system trainer. The donation was made under the
Metalaire brand of commercial air distribution products. The refrigeration
system trainer demonstrates the parts and operation of an air conditioning
system and can be used to demonstrate both the cooling and heat pump cycles.
The unit uses R-123 so that it could use a glass evaporator and glass
condenser.
“We will use the refrigeration system trainer to help our
students better understand the components in a building’s HVAC system,” said
Dr. Paul Oppenheim, director of Undergraduate Program. “The trainer will help
bridge the understanding of the engineering requirements with the
manufacturers’ submittals.”
“We have been a long-time supporter of the University of
Florida and are glad to see our contribution being used to train future
managers in our industry,” said Damian Macaluso, president of Metal Industries.
