Lennox International Inc. (Dallas, TX) announces record earnings for the second quarter. Total consolidated sales increased 51% to $894 million, up from $592 million in the second quarter of 1999. Net income increased 37% to $32 million from $24 million in 99 and set a new quarterly record in the company’s 105-year history. Diluted earnings per share were $0.56.

Emerson Electric Co. (St. Louis, MO) reports record sales, net earnings, and earnings per share for the third quarter of fiscal year 2000. Net sales for the quarter were $4.04 billion, an increase of 11% over $3.63 billion for the comparable 1999 period. Net earnings were $373,758,000, vs. $345,102,000 for the same quarter last year. Earnings per share were $0.87 per share, an increase of 10% over $0.79 for the same period a year ago.

Matsushita Electric Works, Ltd. (MEW; Osaka, Japan) announces that it has established a partnership with Honeywell (Minneapolis, MN) to distribute Honeywell’s LonMark®-certified hvac controllers in Japan. Interoperability between MEW’s lighting controllers and Honeywell’s hvac controllers will enable MEW to deliver integrated building control solutions.

Nortek, Inc. (Providence, RI) reports record sales and net earnings per share for the second quarter. Net sales were $604 million, an 11% increase over the same period last year. Diluted per-share earnings were $1.67, compared to $1.64 a year ago.

Dennis Downing Jr. of Bay Side Comfort, Inc., grand prize winner in the “Get Pumped” Sweepstakes put on by Little Giant Pump Co. (Oklahoma City, OK), was treated to a Richard Petty Driving Experience weekend, which included 30 laps around the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in a NASCAR stock car.

Engineer Herman Viegas of Thermo King Corp. (Minneapolis, MN) has been selected to receive the inaugural Thomas A. Edison Award from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) for his contributions toward 25 refrigeration-related patents and advances in the field of cryogenics.
