Trainers Need to Know Where the Jobs Will Be

Over the next few years, an estimated 40 percent of the HVACR industry will retire. Who will replace them, what types of equipment will they be working on, and what type of training will they need? These are all important questions as the industry strives to recruit and train the next generation of HVACR service technicians.
Some of the factors that will affect employment in the HVACR industry include policy initiatives (GH [greenhouse] gas initiatives), building stock, replacement demand, and regional differences, along with the biggest item on everyone’s mind — rising energy costs. Energy efficiency will be a driving factor in changes to the HVACR industry and drive a great deal of growth over the next decade. People who train our current and future workforce need to know what jobs will be highest in demand in the years to come.
