Florida Contractor to be ‘Jailed' to Raise Money for MDA
April 2, 2007
Fred H. Kobie, president and CEO of Kobie Kooling Inc., Fort Myers, Fla., has announced “with a heavy heart” that he will be “arrested” April 26 as part of a fundraiser “to be confined at Joe’s Crab Shack in a specially designed VIP cell until my bail is reached.”
The “arrest,” complete with the assistance of a Lee County squad car, will be to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), with the funds raised comprising his “bond” that will be posted at $2,500. The future jailbird is asking that checks be made payable to the MDA and mailed to him at P.O. Box 60099, Ft. Myers, FL 33906.
Kobie said, “While incarcerated, I will be eating at Joe’s and gaining weight. Those of you who love me know I do not need to gain any more weight, so help out early to keep me away from the food.”
