Flame Furnace One Of Top Participants In THAW Radiothon

March 12, 2004
DETROIT - Flame Furnace, Warren, Mich., raised $7,600 during The Heat And Warmth Fund (THAW) radiothon in late February on WWJ Newsradio 950, making it one of the top five auction contributions. Based on THAW calculations, the $7,600 raised by the Flame donation will provide heating bill assistance for approximately 39 families for the 2004 season.

The first ever 30-hour fundraiser raised a total of $209,607 to help keep families warm this winter. Through the THAW program, local Detroit-area utilities will match those contributions dollar for dollar, so that $419,214 will be available in aid.

THAW is an independent nonprofit organization that assists low-income families and individuals to keep their heat and lights on during times of temporary financial crisis.

"We are so happy to be part of this program and were delighted at the generosity of the listeners," said Gary Marowske, president of Flame Furnace. "There are too many families in our community that do not have adequate heat this winter. THAW is a much-needed program. Flame Furnace is working to create additional ways the company and our customers can help those in need."
