Energy Star Certifier Named
March 7, 2011
ARLINGTON, Va. - The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which recently finalized its revisions to the Energy Star program and implemented third-party certification requirements for Energy Star-qualified products, named the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) as a recognized Certification Body (CB) for the Energy Star program. Under the new revisions, which went into effect on Jan. 1, new products will no longer be submitted to EPA for qualification, but instead must be certified by an EPA-recognized CB before the product can carry the Energy Star logo.
According to AHRI, it will work with its certification program participants to meet their needs in qualifying new products and meeting EPA’s verification requirements.
