Davis Instruments: Air Velocity Meter
September 24, 2007
The improved Turbo Meter supplies accurate air velocity measurements in ventilation shafts, air conditioning conduits, air ducts, and chimney flues in industrial and construction applications. The pocket-sized device offers a larger, brighter LED display that is easily visible in dark conditions. The meter’s freely turning turbine rotates at a speed directly proportional to air velocity. According to the manufacturer, to ensure maximum sensitivity, the turbine is suspended on sapphire jewel bearings. Its rotation is sensed by an infrared light beam, adding no friction. An improved switch selects between four scales, including feet per minute, meters per second, miles per hour, and knots. A wrist lanyard, protective case, and complete instructions are included.
