Apr. 4, 2002: $3.3 Million Contract Awarded For Army Space Heaters
The ASH provides automatic remote or manual temperature controlled heating to meet the environmental control needs of personnel and equipment in shelters, vans, and other enclosed areas for the U.S. military. This enhanced version will include an adaptation to equip the unit to provide clean filtered air in chemically or biologically contaminated environments. The ASH is currently being used to support ongoing U.S. military forces involved in Operation Anaconda in Afghanistan.
The order was received under a teaming agreement with CMDC, an Oklahoma-based manufacturer of military and commercial equipment, which was recently awarded a multi-year, $55 million prime contract by the U.S. Army for production of the ASH units. Under this initial subcontract, Engineered Support will be responsible for engineering assistance on the development of initial units, due in June 2002, and assembly and test work on ASH deliveries to occur throughout 2003.
