AMCA Releases New Information
December 8, 2008
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. - The Air Movement and Control Association International Inc. (AMCA) has recently made multiple strides in an effort to continue growth and expansion. The association released its revised version of Publication 111-99, Laboratory Accreditation Program. AMCA 111 now recognizes ISO 13347:2004 Fans – Determination of fan sound power levels under standardized laboratory conditions, Part 1: General overview, Part 2: Reverberant room method, Part 3: Enveloping surface methods, and Part 4: Sound intensity method. By recognizing these standards, products tested in accordance with them can now have their performance certified using the AMCA Certified Ratings Program (CRP). In addition to expanding the types of tests recognized by AMCA International, the accreditation program now includes a requirement for periodic visits to the accredited lab to ensure that it is properly maintained.
The association also approved AMCA 222-08, a new Application Manual for Air Curtains. This application manual covers Air Curtain Unit (ACU) theory, components, construction, testing and certification of ratings, applications, benefits, selection, purchase, installation, service, and maintenance.
Additionally, the AMCA 222-08 application manual provides an overview of the basic design, benefits, and applications for ACUs. According to AMCA, many benefits are derived from using an ACU. When properly applied, an ACU can maintain the environmental integrity between two distinct areas, affording clear unobstructed egress and ingress, said the association.
