January 8, 2002
WASHINGTON, DC — The Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) has informed the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) that it opposes imposition of tariffs and quotas on imported steel.

On behalf of its Major and Portable Appliance Divisions, AHAM has submitted comments to the USTR in response to possible action being considered by President George W. Bush, under Section 203 of the Trade Act, to provide relief to the U.S. steel industry.
