Water as a Refrigerant
According to a statement from developers of the site, it is a “brand-new website dedicated exclusively to water as a refrigerant. News, products, and community presented in a user-friendly design will update an international expert readership about developments in water refrigeration technologies and relevant policies.”
“After the success of R744.com over the last six years as well as ammonia21.com and hydrocarbons21.com successfully launched in 2009, we are proud to bring a fourth natural refrigerant platform online. R718.com will focus exclusively on water as refrigerant and with this, present another technology that is ready as a current and future solution to spur innovation in the refrigeration industry,” said Marc Chasserot, founder and editor-in-chief of R718.com. “Furthermore, R718.com fits in seamlessly with the three existing natural refrigerant platforms and serves as a gateway to the global online community, uniting experts in natural refrigerants from all over the world.”
Among the first announcements from the site was a report from the 10th International Institute of Refrigeration Gustav Lorentzen Conference on Natural Refrigerants that took place in June 2012. There, reports were presented on performance improvements with systems using water and ways to make the liquid work in absorption systems.
The site also said it would have a products section. There is also a file-sharing function in which users can upload videos, brochures, presentations, picture galleries, and articles and get peer review. The events listing gives an overview of where the international natural refrigerant conferences are being held. According to the site developers, the “attending” function allows users to see who of the site “community members” is attending, allowing for setting up meetings.
