ACCA Honors Stan Johnson

April 16, 2012
LAS VEGAS — The Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) honored Stan Johnson of Stan’s Heating & Air Conditioning Inc., Austin, Texas, with the Spirit of Independence award at the Chairman’s Banquet at the recent ACCA Annual Conference.

Johnson served as chairman of the ACCA board of directors in 2009, president of the Texas ACCA, and president of ACCA Austin.

Johnson’s tenure as ACCA chairman coincided with President Obama’s first year in office. He helped focus the association on government relations during that time.

Beyond his government relations efforts, Johnson has been a driving force behind the association’s embrace of whole-building performance, and early on had a vision of expanding ACCA beyond traditional HVACR.

Johnson has also dedicated his time and energy to almost every major ACCA program in the past decade — from Manual J8 to the QI standard to the QA program.

“Stan is a leader among contractors and a wise, reasonable voice upon whom ACCA and many contractors, including myself, have come to rely on,” said Joe Nichter, ACCA chairman of the board. “It was an extreme pleasure to present him with this award because he is truly deserving of this honor for his continued efforts to grow our industry.”
