March 30, 2012: BPI Works With NATE and NORA to Expand Its Accreditation Options

March 30, 2012
MALTA, N.Y. — The Building Performance Institute Inc. (BPI) has announced two new options for HVAC contracting companies to earn accredited contractor status. These accreditation criteria draw upon the training and independent certification programs administered by North American Technician Excellence (NATE) and the National Oilheat Research Alliance (NORA).

BPI said it recognizes the specialized training and work experience HVAC contractors bring to the home performance industry, and it has established eligibility criteria for HVAC companies to achieve BPI accredited contractor status that reflects this background.

Certification requirements for BPI accreditation of HVAC contractors now include the following.

The company must employ at least one staff member with the following certifications (or at least two staff members each of whom have one or the other below):

• BPI Building Analyst certification; plus

• NATE Oil or Gas Service or Installation certifications; or

• NORA Silver or Gold certification.

All other application requirements follow standard procedures for BPI accreditation.
