BPI Seeks Applicants for Standards Committee

November 7, 2011
MALTA, N.Y. — The Building Performance Institute Inc. (BPI) is seeking applications from individuals interested in serving on its Standards Technical Committee (STC). BPI continually reviews and updates technical standards used by the residential energy retrofit industry. According to the organization, its STC develops technical standards using an open, transparent, consensus-based process built on sound building science. Interested parties should submit an application by Nov. 21.

The STC was appointed to review and take action on proposals and comments from the general public, with updates to the standards made regularly. Each year, BPI seeks applications from technical personnel willing to invest the time and energy to develop the technical standards the industry needs, said the organization. Prospective nominees’ applications will be assessed by BPI’s Standards Management Board (SMB) to ensure distributed representation by technical expertise, geographic location, experience in the building sciences, and willingness to serve, BPI stated. The SMB will appoint four members each to a three-year term, beginning Jan. 1, 2012.

People interested in joining the STC and helping craft the national standards used by the residential energy retrofit community should go to www.bpi.org, to fill out the Application for Membership on Standards Technical Committee form and submit it electronically by Nov. 21, in accordance with the instructions on the form.
