The GeoComfort® Compass® Series CT geothermal combination unit utilizes a multipositional cabinet that is field convertible to upflow/downflow, with right or left return. The unit is available in sizes from 2 to 6 tons and features improved heating and cooling efficiencies (4.8 COP and 27.9 EER on a 3-ton model, part load) versus the previous model. All Series CT combination models meet Energy Star Tier 3 requirements, which will take effect on Jan. 1, 2012. The heat pump’s compact size allows easier access to other internal components, reduces overall unit weight, and still allows for downflow conversion. In addition to the all-new one-piece electric heater, the unit contains eye-level controls and convenient service access panels. An antimicrobial plastic drain pan with condensate overflow sensors and e-coated air coil are standard features that protect against corrosion and extend the life of the unit, says the company. Features include quadruple compressor isolation, foamed-in source coaxial heat exchanger, and insulated airtight access panels, to help reduce vibration and airflow noise. The cabinet’s styling includes rounded corners and a champagne-color paint.
