PHCC's 124th Convention

CHICAGO - The Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors - National Association (PHCC) installed multiple new officers and bestowed many awards at its 124th annual convention.

During the closing reception at Navy Pier, the PHCC installed Jo Wagner as president, Jim Finley as president elect, Joe Schmitt as vice president, and Frank Maddalon as secretary. During the same meeting, Ron Dunsmoor, George Raburn, Kenny Calkins, Craig Lewis, and Mark Waters were installed as members of the PHCC board of directors.

New officers of the PHCC's Association Executives Council (AEC) are Bev Potts as president, Kevin Kruse as president elect, Jory Isakson as secretary, and Linda Lindsten as permanent treasurer. The new AEC board members are Rodney Jones, Cheryl Maas, Betty Leverett, Stacy Grewek, Nancy Jones, and Tom Theroux.

Besides officer installations, multiple awards were presented during the conference. Mark Whalen, executive director of the New York State PHCC, was named 2006 AEC Spectrum Award winner. James P. Witten, past national secretary of the PHCC, received the Col. George D. Scott award for meritorious service. J. Richard Wagner, chief design engineer for the Poole & Kent Corp., Baltimore, was bestowed an honorary PHCC membership. This honor was approved by the PHCC board of directors in recognition for his service and dedication to PHCC and the plumbing industry. G. Raymond Hefner received the 2006 PHCC Legislative Service Award.

Alton Shannon, president of Shannon's Inc., International Falls, Minn., was named the 2006 Trane/PHCC HVAC Contractor of the Year. He is a member of the Minnesota board of directors, and has held several other industry-related offices. The first runner-up honor went to Tom Warner, president of Utility Service Express LLC, Reston, Va. The second runner-up honor went to Patrick Nugent, president of John Nugent & Sons Inc., McLean, Va.
