New models of the Ogontz Pinch Trap (OPT) increase the steam trap’s efficiency and operating range, the company says. The new versions are the OPT 1-25, operating at lower pressures (1 to 25 psi), the OPT 25-100 (25 to 100 psi), and the OPT 100-200 (100 to 200 psi). Using hydrocarbon wax during automatic operation, they perform closer to saturated steam temperatures than previous models, the company says. The units do not cycle on and off, and therefore do not allow the live steam loss that occurs with many traps because of cycling, says the company.
