Oct. 8, 2009: New DOE Website Encourages Consumers to ‘Stay Warm, Save Money'

WASHINGTON - With fall here and thoughts turning to the coming colder weather, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has launched a new Website and educational campaign to help consumers be more energy efficient and save on heating costs this winter.

Called “Stay Warm, Save Money,” the site focuses on providing simple, cost-effective, energy-saving solutions for homeowners and small businesses. The Website notes that, in a typical home, 43 percent of the utility bill goes toward heating and cooling. To minimize this expense, the site provides no-cost and low-cost energy-saving tips, long-term solutions for saving energy, financial assistance links for energy-saving improvements, and a blog that covers energy-saving topics. It also includes information on conducting an energy audit to find out where a home is losing energy and money.
