TIPP CITY, Ohio - Edward Broerman, 40, passed away unexpectedly April 14 at Grandview Hospital, Dayton. He was the owner of Ed’s Heating and Cooling Co., which he founded when he was 19 years old.

Mr. Broerman was a member of the Bethel Township Zoning Board, Tipp City Chamber of Commerce, and Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) Dayton Chapter where he was a board member and served as president several times.

He was a pilot and member of the Flying Angels New Carlisle; elected to the Hall of Fame at Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC), Clayton, Ohio; and worked with the Wounded Warrior Project, Child Care Choices, Stepping Stones Cooperative Preschool, and Bethel local schools of Miami County.

He is remembered by many in the industry, such as Greg McAfee, owner of McAfee Heating & Air Conditioning, Kettering: “As a 14 year old in eighth grade, he knew what he wanted to do. He went to work for Mr. Shock of Shock Heating Co.,” recalled McAfee. Mr. Broerman spent $6,000 for his first truck and operated from his first business location in a rented barn. “Today Ed’s company operates out of a beautiful facility in Tipp City and employs over 20 people,” McAfee said.

“When asked about his greatest accomplishments in business, Ed’s humble reply was his ability to provide a good standard of living for his own family,” he continued. “He was also excited about hiring good people and watching them learn, grow, and improve their standard of living as well. He loved making things happen and thinking outside the box for the growth of his business, as well as improving the industry.”

Mr. Broerman is survived by Julie, his wife of 15 years; son, Jacob; parents, Frank and Marlene Broerman; brothers, Fred (Allison), James, and Paul (Amy); sister, Mary Purcell (Bob); in-laws, Larry and Mary Lou Smith; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

The family is requesting that memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org); the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (www.lls.org); and the American Heart Association, 124 N. Jefferson St., Dayton, Ohio 45402.
