March 12, 2009: Baltimore Aircoil Company to Close Paxton, Ill., Plant

BALTIMORE - Baltimore Aircoil Company (BAC) announced that it will close its Paxton, Ill., facility. The company said that productivity improvements coupled with planned investments in its Madera, Calif., and Milford, Del., facilities enables the consolidation of manufacturing operations in North America.

Steve Duerwachter, president of BAC, said, “This is a difficult decision. We realize that it is very disappointing news for our employees working at the Paxton facility.” He added, “The consolidation of manufacturing into the two remaining North American plants is necessary for Baltimore Aircoil Company to remain competitive in the challenging economy in which we operate today.”

The company anticipates that initial reductions in production at the Paxton facility will begin in May 2009, with closure by late June 2009. BAC is providing displaced employees with severance pay, medical benefits, outplacement counseling, and assistance with tuition related to technical and skills training.
