Long before President Trump was elected in surprise fashion in November, the House Ways and Means committee quietly put together a plan to modernize our tax system. It was published June 24, 2016, and is known as “A Better Way: Our Vision for a Confident America”, which is available online for review.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released its April jobs report, revealing that employment in the construction industry increased by 5,000 jobs (seasonally adjusted). While the economy added 211,000 jobs, total specialty trade employment contracted nominally, shedding 1,500 positions in April.
While many officials representing several leading HVACR industry associations applaud the Trump administration’s initial efforts on tax reform, they’re still actively lobbying in Washington on the industry’s behalf.
The Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA); Heating, Air-conditioning & Refrigeration Distributors International (HARDI); and 38 other national organizations “strongly urge” Congress to pursue comprehensive tax reform to lower rates on all forms of business income.
