Monitoring-Based Commissioning Expected to Appear in Many New Buildings over the Next 10 Years
April 20, 2015
Building commissioning services originated in the United States and United Kingdom in the 1960s and 1970s as a quality assurance measure for new buildings. In recent years commissioning has experienced rapid growth through the spread of green building certification programs, notes Navigant Research.
A new report from Navigant Research says the demand for building commissioning services (BCS), which ensure a commercial building’s equipment and control systems are performing as designed, is accelerating worldwide.
A surge in growth in energy-efficient building design, along with the increased complexity of construction projects, is accelerating demand for building commissioning services, which include not only initial building commissioning, but also recommissioning, retrocommissioning, and continuous commissioning.
