Senator h. c. Peter Schaufler, CEO and owner of Bitzer, has passed away at the age of 74. Schaufler managed Bitzer for 36 years and turned the company into the world’s largest independent manufacturer of refrigeration compressors.

Kobe Steel Ltd. has developed a new refrigeration compressor, called the iZN440TUA, which is a two-stage inverter ammonia screw compressor said to have the world's highest cooling rate with a coefficient of performance (COP) of 1.63 and the world’s highest cooling capacity of about 400 kW.
The compressor manufacturer Bitzer has invested 30 million Euros (about $39.3 million) for construction of new buildings to house production, a warehouse, and dispatching in Schkeuditz, Germany. The improvements will also include more space for training.
