Guidance on how to reduce the risk of Legionnaires’ disease via a recently published ASHRAE standard will be shared in a new course at the 2016 ASHRAE Winter Conference. The course is one of 20 being presented at the conference and the 2016 AHR Expo.

HC Info has announced a webcast that will discuss ASHRAE’s new Legionella standard and its impact on contractors and others. The 60-minute webcast, “ANSI/ASHRAE 188-2015: Responsibilities, Liability, and Opportunities,” is scheduled for Aug. 18, 2015 at 8 a.m. PST (11 a.m. EST).
Now is a good time for contractors — along with facility operators and engineering firms — to take a close look at ASHRAE’s pending Legionella standard. ASHRAE 188P, “Legionellosis: Risk Management for Building Water Systems,” could become a standard as early as July if the latest comments do not warrant another public review.
Proposed Standard Will Establish Minimum Legionellosis Risk Management Requirements

A fourth version of ASHRAE’s proposed legionellosis standard is open for public comment until Nov. 10, 2014. Standard 188P, Legionellosis: Risk Management for Building Water Systems, currently under development, will establish minimum legionellosis risk management requirements for building water systems.
To help battle Legionellosis, which includes both Legionnaires’ disease and Pontiac Fever, ASHRAE is currently developing Standard 188P: “Legionellosis: Risk Management for Building Water Systems.” The fourth public review draft of the standard is expected to be approved and made available for public comment soon.
