The condensing unit market is on the rise. According to a report published by MarketsandMarkets, the global condensing unit market is forecast to reach $23.31 billion by 2021, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11.1 percent from 2016 to 2021. And there are a number of trends contributing to this growth.
The QCC2 and QCC3 air-cooled scroll-compressor condensing units are part of Johnson Controls’ portfolio of ready-to-ship products. They are designed for applications ranging from 15-160 ton and may be paired with indoor air handlers using direct expansion (DX) evaporator coils.
Members of The NEWS’ trainer panel examined compressor valves and determined the best methods for maintaining valves, diagnosing faulty ones, and implementing proper troubleshooting techniques when they go bad.
These units feature a 70°F floating head pressure control valve and an integral subcooling circuit that allows saturated liquid to flow from the receiver to the condenser where the refrigerant is sub-cooled by ambient air.
By consolidating five different controls into a single module that supports operation, diagnostics, compressor protection, and two-way communication, this unit can monitor system status and make necessary adjustments to maximize efficiency and reliability.
