When Platte River’s headquarters rated just a seven on a scale of 100 on Energy Star scoring, Jeff Menard, facilities and security manager, decided to evaluate the building for areas where energy efficiency could be improved. Menard enlisted the help of Haynes Mechanical Systems to come up with a plan.
While most efficiency retrofits take place because the building owner is looking to reduce energy costs, government policy and incentives are a growing influence. According to a report from Pike Research, the combination of government policies and financial incentives will drive rapid growth in retrofits over the remainder of the decade.
Lime Energy Co. announced that it has been awarded a three-year contract by AEP Ohio, a unit of American Electric Power, for the implementation of its Small Business Direct Install Program. The AEP Ohio program provides significant incentives to help offset the costs of implementing energy efficiency upgrades.
