ABB Is Supplying Specialized Electrical Modules for the Doosan Fuel Cell Power Plants

ABB and Doosan Fuel Cell, a Connecticut-based provider of fuel cell power systems, announced that the two companies have extended their partnership agreement through 2016. Switzerland-based ABB is supplying specialized electrical modules that serve as the control system for the Doosan fuel cell power plants.

WATT Fuel Cell Corp., a developer and manufacturer of solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) components and systems, held a grand opening event at its new facility in Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania. The grand opening followed WATT’s acquisition this past April of Mt. Pleasant-based tubular SOFC developer Pittsburgh Electric Engines Inc.

Fuel Cells Are Expected to Generate More Than 16 Million kWh of Clean Electricity

Verizon has announced an agreement to install Bloom Energy fuel cell systems at three of its California-based locations: two call-switching centers in Los Angeles and San Francisco and a data center in San Jose. The solid oxide fuel cells are expected to generate more than 16 million kWh of clean electricity each year.
ClearEdge Power, a manufacturer of fuel cell systems, announced that it has reached an agreement to acquire UTC Power, a unit of United Technologies Corp., which also develops and manufactures fuel cells.
Bloom Energy®, a manufacturer of fuel cells, has broken ground on a new manufacturing facility in Newark, Del. KR Sridhar, principal co-founder and chief executive officer of Bloom Energy said, “Once the Bloom Energy Manufacturing Center is completed, we will double Bloom Energy’s production capacity.”
