Award goes to manufacturer installing advanced refrigeration systems in the most GreenChill certified stores

Hillphoenix announced it has received a 2014-2015 Achievement Award - Store Certification Excellence from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) GreenChill Partnership program. It’s the company’s fifth GreenChill award since the program launched in 2007.
System design, performance, and service conditions must be evaluated when retrofitting with a zeotropic or near-azeotropic refrigerant blend. Always follow the refrigerant manufacturer’s retrofit guidelines before retrofitting with any refrigerant, or system performance could be affected and/or injury may occur.
There is a vast selection of refrigerants, and sometimes a technician has a choice in selecting a refrigerant for a particular system. Knowing some of the basic properties of refrigerants can assist a technician in making that selection.
For two years, the commercial refrigeration industry has been reeling from a one-two regulatory punch from the DOE and the EPA. This convergence of aggressive regulations was unprecedented for our industry. It has forced us to explore every possibility to engineer the next generation of refrigeration systems.
A demonstration of complex — but ultimately valuable — developments when it comes to supermarket refrigeration is a project conducted by the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).
This is my last Point of View commentary for The NEWS’ FROSTlines eNewsletter. By the time you read this, I will have been retired for several weeks. FROSTlines was a new venture for The NEWS when it began a few years ago. It was set to focus totally on refrigeration and it would be online only.
No sector of refrigeration has been more cutting edge than the supermarket sector. At the most recent Food Marketing Institute Energy & Store Development Conference, papers and presentations focused on these trends. Nearly all trends were actually being used in some supermarkets today.
When I think of how big and complex our industry is, I see it most reflected in the limited number of places the refrigeration shows I have attended can be held. These shows have a lot of people looking at a lot of products.
