ST. LOUIS - Emerson Climate Technologies partnered with local students and a contractor to install energy-saving technologies at the Piqua Country Club in Piqua, Ohio. Emerson initiated a project with Upper Valley Joint Vocational School students and Eck Refrigeration, a local commercial refrigeration and air conditioning contractor, to install Comfort Alert® diagnostic modules and replace the facility’s existing thermostats with Emerson® Blue™ programmable thermostats.

“We are truly pleased to be a part of this project,” said Bob Labbett, vice president of marketing, Emerson Climate Technologies, Distribution Services Division. “The students were able to gain real-world, hands-on experience with the latest HVAC technologies, and their hard work will ultimately help the Piqua Country Club to benefit from better system performance and improved comfort and energy savings. As a company we were also able to learn about these new, innovative products and their applications through the unique voice of the customer.”

The Comfort Alert diagnostic modules were installed in the Piqua Country Club’s HVAC rooftop units to monitor overall system performance, which will help the facility and its contractors better diagnose system issues prior to compressor failure, providing overall maintenance savings. The Emerson Blue programmable thermostats that were utilized in this project will offer increased energy savings, projected to be anywhere from 8 to 10 percent if the schedules are continuously used and monitored. These installations will help the Piqua Country Club to better control system operation for overall reduced energy and maintenance costs.

“This project was really exciting for our business,” said Dana Downs, manager, Piqua Country Club. “It was an absolute pleasure to work with the students, contractor, and Emerson Climate Technologies to see this project through to completion. We are looking forward to the overall benefits that this technology will bring to our facility.”
