July 9, 2002: Tecogen Announces Agreement With Vilter Manufacturing

WALTHAM, MA — Tecogen Inc., a manufacturer of commercial and industrial natural gas-powered refrigeration systems, chillers, and cogeneration systems, announced that it has signed a sales and manufacturing agreement with Vilter Manufacturing Corp., Cudahy, WI, for its TecoFROST™ line of gas engine-driven refrigeration systems.

Under the terms of the agreement, Vilter will become Tecogen’s exclusive sales agent, and the two companies will undertake a cooperative manufacturing effort, using a Vilter compressor designed specifically for the TecoFROST refrigeration unit.

“Vilter is a well-known name in refrigeration technology,” stated Bob Panora, president of Tecogen. “We’ll benefit from the experience and reach of Vilter’s sales force, and our customers will benefit from the flexibility and responsiveness that our new cooperative manufacturing program will afford them.”

TecoFROST natural gas-driven refrigeration systems are designed to allow customers to use lower cost natural gas for their refrigeration needs when demand for electricity is high and utilities charge higher rates. The systems are based on engines that generate mechanical power for cooling and are classified as MCHP (mechanical combined heat and power). Customers can improve their energy cost savings even further by reclaiming waste heat from the system and using it for their hot water requirements.
