Johnson Controls and US Airconditioning Expand Distribution Arrangement

MILWAUKEE - Johnson Controls Inc. has announced the sale of assets from its Unitary Products Northern California branch to US Airconditioning Distributors Inc. The companies also have agreed to expand their distribution agreement.

According to the companies, this transaction allows US Airconditioning to operate more efficiently and expand its distribution territory in California. It only affects the UPG California facilities in Fresno, Sacramento, San Jose, and Stockton. Most employees will remain with US Airconditioning.

“This arrangement reaffirms Johnson Controls’ commitment to independent distribution for its residential and light-commercial products,” said C. David Myers, president of the building efficiency business of Johnson Controls. “This further strengthens our ability to supply branded products throughout California and the Reno, Nev., area.”

US Airconditioning, headquartered in the Los Angeles area, is one of the world’s largest privately owned HVAC distributors. The company provides HVAC products for both residential and commercial customers, including equipment, parts, and supplies.

In September, the companies entered into an agreement to enhance the independent distribution of residential and light-commercial products to dealers in Southern California, Arizona, Utah, Idaho, and certain parts of Nevada.

Effective immediately, US Airconditioning now will distribute York, Luxaire, and Guardian-branded products throughout California and northern Nevada.

“This is a natural combination that provides our dealers with a diversified, high-quality product line and ensure we are aligned with an organization committed to applying the resources necessary for continued growth,” said John Staples, president of US Airconditioning.
