Jan. 19, 2010: Yurek Named AHRI Chief Executive Officer

ARLINGTON, Va. - The Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) announced that it has promoted Stephen R. Yurek, president of the association, to the position of chief executive officer. His new title is now president and CEO.

“We are pleased to promote Steve to CEO,” said Ray Hoglund, AHRI chairman. “His leadership skills, his knowledge of the industry, and his forward-thinking approach to AHRI as a global association have inspired confidence in the membership and make his ascension to CEO a natural progression.”

Yurek joined ARI (predecessor to AHRI) in 2002 as vice president of policy and public affairs and general counsel. He was promoted in 2006 to the newly created position of chief operating officer, and was promoted to president in 2007.

Yurek came to ARI from the education community, having served as vice president of business development and public affairs for CompassLearning Inc. and, prior to that, as general counsel and chief operating officer at the National Association of Secondary School Principals.
