Iowa RSES Plans 42nd Annual Educational Conference
The Refrigeration Service Engineers Society (RSES) Iowa State Association will put on its annual educational conference April 25-26, 2008 at the i wireless Center in Davenport, Iowa. This program is hosted by the RSES Mississippi Valley Chapter, Davenport, Iowa. The “Classic Hydronics” presentation led by Dan Holohan of HeatingHelp.com will highlight the conference.
Holohan will explain the essence of hydronics during his one-day seminar on April 25, 2008. He will speak in simple terms about the oldest gravity systems and newest radiant systems while explaining the common threads that run through them. North American Technician Excellence (NATE) has recognized this seminar for continuing education units toward renewing NATE certification.
The conference kick-off event will be the state board meeting, which will be held on Friday, April 25, 2008 at 7 a.m., followed by the vendors display at 8 a.m., the “Classic Hydronics” seminar at 8:30 a.m., and examinations at 4 p.m.
On Saturday, April 26, 2008, events consist of registration at 7 a.m., vendors display at 8 a.m., presentation by Russ Barnthouse of Parker Hannifin Corp. at 8:30 a.m., presentation by Jim Bergmann of Testo at 10:45 a.m., and the state awards banquet at 6:30 p.m. Barnthouse’s presentation will be on how expansion valves work and how to troubleshoot them. Bergman’s presentation will detail advanced air conditioning diagnostics where attendees will learn airflow measurement and measuring system capacity.
Testing opportunities on Friday, April 25, 2008, will be for Certificate Member (RSES members only), Certificate Member Specialist (RSES members only), EPA Section 608 certification, Universal R-410A Certification, and the NATE series of exams. RSES student identification card, RSES membership card, and NATE certification card will be required for applicable exams. Exam fees vary.
Hotel reservations can be made directly with the Radisson Hotel in Moline, Ill. For more information, call 309-764-1000. When making hotel reservations, ask for the RSES Conference block to receive the discounted rate. The special RSES discount will only apply through March 26, 2008.
