Model 685A07 mechanical vibration switch is a shock-sensitive mechanism designed for shutdown of engine or electric motor-powered equipment. For use in nonhazardous locations, the switch is designed to detect shock/vibration in three planes of motion. It uses a magnetic latch to ensure reliable operation. Pushing the rest button moves the tripping latch into a magnetically held position. A shock/vibration will move the magnet beyond this holding position, thus freeing the spring-loaded tripping latch to transfer the contacts and shut down the machinery. The latch can be externally adjusted for higher or lower sensitivity. According to the manufacturer, this technology is particularly effective on cooling towers, fans, small motors or pumps, or any installation that requires immediate shutdown when increased vibration levels are present. It accommodates normally open and normally closed wiring schemes.
