Florida Apprentice Wins UA Competition

Adam Warringer, 26, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., won in the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning division in the United Association’s (UA’s) Florida apprentice competition at Miami’s Air Conditioning Technical Center, commonly known as AC Tech.

Apprentices competed in hands-on and written competitions that measured their skills in the categories of Plumbing, Pipefitting, Welding, and HVAC. Apprentices who participated in this competition belong to the UA, an international construction union. Work performed by UA members includes construction, renovation, expansion and repair of facilities. They install piping systems, plumbing fixtures, heating, air conditioning and ventilation systems.

Warringer recently finished the fourth year of his five-year apprenticeship with AC Tech. He works for Southeastern Chiller Service in Coral Springs, Fla. “Anybody who enters this line of work can expect great money and limitless possibilities,” Warringer said. In five to 10 years, he hopes to become a manager or start his own business.
