Contractors for the Week: May 21, 2001

  • EMCOR Group, Inc. (New York, NY), a provider of mechanical and electrical construction and facilities services, has launched a New York metropolitan branch of EMCOR Service. The branch is a specialist division that provides facility owners throughout the New York region with mobile services.
  • CMS Viron Energy Services (Kansas City, MO) has been awarded an energy performance contract with Valley College in Los Angeles, CA. CMS Viron will provide facility upgrades in 17 of the college’s major buildings in an effort to lower energy costs and save approximately $9.4 million.
  • Encompass Services Corporation (Houston, TX) has been awarded a contract of more than $30 million to provide mechanical services to a new Nissan Motor Company manufacturing facility in Madison County, MS. Encompass will design and install the heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and plumbing equipment for the 2.6-million-sq-ft plant.
  • KSW Inc. (Long Island, NY) announces its financial results for the first quarter of 2001. Total revenue decreased by 12 % to $10,641,000, as compared to $12,121,000 for the first quarter of 2000. There was a net loss of $816,000 in the first quarter of 2001, as compared to a net gain of $413,000 in the first quarter of 2000. This represents a loss of $0.15 per share (basic and diluted), as compared to a gain of $0.08 per share (basic) or $0.07 (diluted) in the first quarter of 2000.
  • American Plumbing & Mechanical, Inc. (AMPAM) (Round Rock, TX) announces revenues in the first quarter of 2001 increased 15% to $143.4 million, compared to $125.1 million for the first quarter of 2000.Gross profit for the quarter was $22.5 million, up 2% from the same period last year.
