A new Third Generation line of products, water-source heat pumps, use R-134a refrigerant. According to the manufacturer, the energy-efficient HPW water-source units offer the highest COPs available, heating water up to 160°F with performance ranging from 70 to 2,200 MBtuh. Features include Copeland scroll compressors (on HPW4 through HPW12); Carlyle semi-hermetic, reciprocating compressors (on HPA30); a source water flow switch and freeze stat, and an open frame design. Optional features include SMO copper/stainless steel brazed plate condensers for pool and spa heating, remote heat rejection for constant chilled potable water output, and remote enunciator panel. The building hydronic loop water, return chilled water, condenser or cooling tower water, geothermal loops or wells, and industrial process water are a few of the possible heat sources that can be utilized by the heat pump.
