LAUSANNE, Switzerland - In 1999, Bertrand Piccard's nonstop circumnavigation of the Earth in his Breitling Orbiter balloon set a milestone in aviation.

As opening speaker of CLIMA 2005, he will share his experiences and how his vision plays a role in the future of building technologies. The conference, organized by Rehva (the European Federation of HVAC Societies) and co-sponsored by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), will take place Oct. 9-12, in Lausanne, Switzerland.

CLIMA 2005 includes workshops on technical subjects organized by Rehva. Fifteen workshops have been scheduled. These workshops are in addition to the technical paper program and the presentation of 10 invited plenary speakers.

ASHRAE has been a co-sponsor of CLIMA since 1985. The event is held every four years in a different European site. To register or for more information, visit www.ashrae.org/clima2005.
