Carrier Training Offers College Credit

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Technicians taking HVAC electrical and mechanical troubleshooting courses offered through Carrier Corporation’s Customer Technical Training program will earn, upon successful completion, three college credits per course through Onondaga Community College (OCC). These credits are recognized by more than 64 schools in the State University of New York (SUNY) system.

Carrier’s HVAC Electrical Pro-Troubleshooting and HVAC Mechanical Pro-Troubleshooting courses are recognized by North American Technician Excellence (NATE).

The mechanical troubleshooting course focuses on the fundamental skills needed to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and service residential and commercial HVAC refrigeration systems. Through the use of computers and equipment within the lab, students will gain understanding of the refrigeration process and learn troubleshooting techniques.

The electrical troubleshooting course will provide information on residential and light commercial HVAC electrical system malfunction, with the emphasis on rapid discovery of the failed component and root cause determination.
