Aug. 16, 2006: AMCA International Signs License Agreement With Intertek

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. - The Air Movement and Control Association International (AMCA International) has entered into an independent laboratory license agreement with New York-based Intertek Testing Services NA Inc., ETL SEMKO Division, to act as its agent performing testing for the AMCA Certified Ratings Program for Acoustical Duct Silencers.

This agreement was generated by AMCA International, as the association determined it would provide an increased benefit for acoustical duct silencer manufacturers using an independent laboratory to perform contract tests, pre-certification tests, check tests, challenge tests, and laboratory check tests as required under the AMCA Certified Ratings Program.

According to AMCA International, Intertek Testing Services has made extensive improvements to reduce flanking noise within its laboratory over the range of octave bands (50Hz to 10kHz) measured. These improvements will allow acoustical duct silencer manufacturers the opportunity to test and certify their products with confidence up to 10 feet in length.

AMCA International has developed and maintains the Certified Ratings Program for Acoustical Duct Silencers, assuring buyers, specifiers, and users of acoustical duct silencers that published ratings of such devices are reliable and accurate. Additionally, the AMCA Certified Ratings Program assures the manufacturers of these devices that competitive ratings are based on uniform standard test methods and procedures and are subject to check by an impartial authority.
