MOUNT PROSPECT, Ill. — The AC&R Coalition has introduced the Universal R-410A Safety and Training CD-ROM. The interactive CD-ROM is said to provide field service personnel with the training and knowledge to perform service on systems containing R-410A and R-407C. In addition, the CD includes information on the R-22 phase-out, appropriate refrigerant and oil applications, service techniques, and safe handling of R-410A.

The CD-ROM is supported by the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society (RSES), Ferris State University, HVAC Excellence, and ESCO Institute, as well as several other industry organizations.

According to the AC&R Coalition, as more manufacturers build air conditioning equipment using the HFC refrigerant R-410A, it is important that technicians understand the safe handling, proper charging, operating characteristics, and proper applications of the refrigerant.

The CD was also designed to break down R-410A training into categories each with specific subtopics. Each category contains practice questions.
