ARLINGTON, Va. — The Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) has announced the finalists for the trade association's 2003 Excellence in Contracting Awards. Award winners will be announced at ACCA's 2003 Annual Conference in Palm Springs, Calif., set for March 12-15.

"These HVACR businesses provide professional, quality services that set an example for the HVACR industry and raise the bar for businesses everywhere," said Paul T. Stalknecht, president and CEO of ACCA.

In the "Excellence in Training" category, which recognizes contractors with a commitment to innovative training programs, finalists are: National Comfort Institute, Sheffield Lake, Ohio, and Isaac Heating and Air Conditioning Inc., Rochester, N.Y.

Finalists for the "Excellence in Residential Contracting Award" for companies with less than $1 million in revenues are: Eric Kjelshus Energy HVAC, Greenwood, Mo., and Northside Heating and Cooling, Benton, Ark.

In the category of "Excellence in Residential Contracting" for companies with revenues of more than $1 million, finalists are: Atlas Butler Heating and Cooling, Columbus, Ohio; Gas Appliance Service, Seattle, Wash.; Mark E. Meacham Inc., Charlton, Mass.; Newcomb and Company, Raleigh, N.C.; and Airco Service Inc., Tulsa, Okla.

Finalists for the "Excellence in Commercial Contracting Award" are: Tri-City Mechanical, Chandler, Ariz.; The Tyler Companies, Ijamsville, Md.; Bruce Thornton Air Conditioning Inc., Lubbock, Texas; Electronic Environments Corporation, Canton, Mass.; and CHC Mechanical, Cookeville, Tenn.
