FALLS CHURCH, Va. - The Construction Contractors' Alliance (CCA) will talk about how to get their businesses in shape at a "Business Fitness Forum" Oct. 12-14 meeting at the Ritz-Carlton Buckhead in Atlanta.

Lean construction expert Dennis Sowards will begin the meeting with a keynote presentation titled "Lean Principles Applied to Construction." Sowards will talk about how a lean construction philosophy can help companies reduce waste and become more productive and profitable.

In the seminar "Legendary Service at the Ritz-Carlton," participants will learn about the Ritz-Carlton philosophy and Gold Standards that have helped the company be a two-time recipient of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. The speaker will be Bruce Seigel, the area director of marketing for the Ritz-Carlton Hotels of Georgia.

Other highlights of the meeting include:

  • A tour of Dupree Plumbing Co., a full-service plumbing company in the Atlanta metro area.

  • A "Contractor Spotlight" on plumbing, heating, and air conditioning new construction commercial contractor Greene & Associates, Macon, Ga.

  • "Hot Topic" roundtables on lean construction and business expansion.

  • A "Get into Politics or Get out of Business" presentation by Lake Coulson, PHCC's vice president of government relations.
