Carrier Corp. (Syracuse, NY) has agreed to buy the commercial refrigeration business of Sweden’s Electrolux Group for approximately $145 million in cash. Electrolux Commercial Refrigeration makes equipment for supermarkets, convenience stores, and other customers. It had 1998 sales of more than $300 million.

Rockwell Automation’s Reliance Electric plant in Athens, GA, was recently recognized as a leader in pollution prevention by the state of Georgia. The facility was cited for its progress in waste minimization and overall management commitment to environmental excellence.

Hoshizaki America

Hoshizaki America Inc. has held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new plant that will double its manufacturing capacity in the United States. In an industrial park outside Griffin, GA, a 223,000-sq-ft plant will be built for the manufacture of reach-in freezers and refrigerators as well as ice machine bins. Officials said the structure would eventually grow to 400,000 sq ft.

AC Technology

AC Technology Corp. (Uxbridge, MA) has been acquired by Lenze GmbH (Hameln, Germany). AC Technology is a manufacturer of industrial and commercial electronic motor control products. Lenze builds ac drives and power transmission equipment.

Ebtron

Ebtron, Inc. (Loris, SC) has announced a new line of electronic sensors for the unit ventilator market, specifically to address IAQ in schools. Production is planned to begin in January.
