CHICAGO - Johnson Controls has expanded the open architecture of its Metasys® building management system with a family of BACnet® compatible field controllers and embedded wireless technology. The company introduced the expanded Metasys system at the AHR Expo

"The Metasys system provides a comprehensive solution for all major building automation system protocols and extends the benefits of wireless technology to all sizes and types of buildings," said Alex Molinaroli, vice president and general manager, North America. "Along with our recent acquisition of York International, the Metasys system demonstrates that we are dedicated to continuing to lead the industry in both controls and equipment innovations that provide high-performance benefits to our customers."

The BACnet field controllers utilize sophisticated algorithms to provide continuous adaptive control so HVAC equipment "self-tunes" in response to seasonal changes and system dynamics, reducing commissioning time, says the company. Wireless capabilities can be used throughout the entire system or in just one part, providing a flexible, cost-effective option.
