CHANTILLY, Va. - The Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors' National Association (SMACNA) awarded three College of Fellows scholarships, worth $2,000 each per academic year. The winners are:

  • Daniel Byrne III of Vacaville, Calif. He is to attend the University of California at San Diego and study structural engineering. His father, Daniel Byrne II, is employed by the Marelich Mechanical Co., Hayward, Calif.

  • Patrick Gallo of Norwood, Pa. He will attend West Chester University and study history and business. His mother, Christine Gallo, is employed by Ernest Menold Inc. of Lester, Pa.

  • Anthony Sericati of Iron Mountain, Mich. He will attend the Milwaukee School of Engineering. His father, Donald Sericati, is the owner of the Merkell Co. of Iron Mountain.

    SMACNA also recently awarded its Richard DeBrine endowed scholarship, worth $2,000 per academic year, to Melissa Smuck of Rohnert Park, Calif. Smuck is attending California Polytechnic State University. Her father, Jim Smuck, is employed by JMS Mechanical, Petaluma, Calif.

    Callie Thompson of Trenton, Mich., was also selected as the recipient of a $2,000 SMACNA scholarship. She will attend Grand Valley State in Allendale, Mich. Her father, David Thompson, is employed by ChristenDetroit of Detroit.
