DES PLAINES, Ill. - The Northern Illinois Chapter of the Air Conditioning Contractors of America (NIACCA) is offering its "Heat Exchanger Experts" seminar on September 6 and September 7 at the Hyatt Woodfield in Schaumburg, Ill.

The Heat Exchanger Experts seminar teaches inspection techniques and procedures to help service technicians determine the condition of a furnace heat exchanger. Ellis Prach, a contractor for over 40 years, is the presenter. Some of the things attendees will gain from participation include:

  • Being able to prove heat exchanger cracks and holes to the homeowner.

  • Identifying defects more quickly and efficiently.

  • Being aware of patterns of wear and tear on all types of furnaces.

  • Seeing step-by-step inspection techniques.

  • Learning clues that tell you where to first look for cracks and holes.

More than 50 field-tested heat exchangers are brought to the class so that class participants can inspect and be trained to find the stress points and problems areas.

Class cost is $400 for NIACCA and RSES members, $475 for non-members, and prepayment is required. The class will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on each day.
