To increase heater life in the 60-series steam humidifiers, the heating element has been significantly lengthened and reconfigured, reducing watt density by 27 percent. Spreading watt density allows the heater to run slightly cooler with fewer hot spots, thereby reducing premature burnout. Newly designed heating elements come standard in all of the company's steam units - duct-mounted Model 60-1, 60-2, F60-1, and F60-2, and the freestanding 60-BC1. Other enhancements to the 60-series include a safety control shutoff, to prevent the humidifier from operating if the furnace blower fails; and Compustat, an electronic temperature-sensing humidistat.
