MISSISSAUGA, Ontario - The Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI) has announced the most recent recipient of a bursary from HRAI's Orvil L. Davie Memorial Fund: Peter Christensen, a student at British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT).

Christensen relocated to Vancouver in order to start the two-year HVACR co-op program at BCIT. While still supporting a family, he was motivated to make a career move to an industry that was "mentally challenging and enabled me to work with my hands." He was also looking for variety, a chance to meet new people, and stability in work prospects.

Recipients of the Orvil L. Davie Bursary award can apply it to their registration/tuition fees, training materials, or travel and living expenses related to their course of study. The Orvil L. Davie Memorial Fund was established in 1987 in honor of HRAI's first chairman, Orvil L. Davie. The purpose of the fund is to encourage students to seek a career in the HVACR industry by providing bursaries to those requiring financial assistance. Over 70 percent of the current fund balance consists of direct donations from companies in the HVACR industry.

For more information about contributions or bursary applications, contact Elizabeth Tarczy of HRAI at 800-267-2231.
